Kikilia order for EDE: “These are not tolerated”
The Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, gave an order to conduct a Sworn Administrative Examination (SOR) for the Harbor Master of Chania, as well as for the investigation of disciplinary responsibilities of the crew of the E/G-O/G ship “ARIADNI”, to the Chief of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral L.S. Tryfona Kontiza, after the unacceptable incident of violence.
The EDE was ordered as the Harbor Master of Chania did not proceed with the required formation of a case file for the ship’s crew, nor informed directly the leadership of the Ministry and the Coast Guard, as provided by applicable regulations.
Until the completion of the EDE, the Harbor Master of Chania is removed from his duties.
The competent Port Authority has already filed a case file that will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
The Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy emphasizes that such behaviors are absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The primary concern and obligation is always safety and respect for the passenger.
