The 2.5-year-old girl who was pulled unconscious from a hotel pool in Rhodes ended up in a hospital in Great Britain.

The child was hospitalized several times days in critical conditionat the Hospital PAGNI of Cretewhere he had been airlifted from Rhodes Hospital, last week the family started all the procedures and was transferred to hospital in their home country, in England. Already, according to information from Rodiaki, the doctors from Crete had informed their relatives that the the damage done to the little girl was irreparable. Based on the same information, the 2.5-year-old girl ended up on October 26 at the UK Hospital.

It is recalled that for the incident they were arrested with the spontaneous procedure o 44 year old uncle, as he is referred to as the person who had the little girl under his care, as well as the 54 year old Greek, travel agency manager in charge for the customers served by the hotel. The two men were prosecuted for serious bodily harm by negligence, while in the same case the accused 57-year-old owner of the hotel and the unit manager (who had not been arrested in the context of the autoforo), for her crime exhibition by which it was caused to suffered serious bodily harm.

After the tragic end of the three-year-old girl’s health, it is considered certain that the competent Rhodes investigator handling the casewill proceed to change categories. Once this is done, the uncle and the 54-year-old Greek, who have already apologized for the case, will be asked to give additional apologies in the next period, while the other two involved, the owner and the manager of the hotel where the minor girl was staying with his family and the incident took place, are expected to be asked to give explanations.

The last dip in the pool

According to the case file, the incident happened shortly before 12 noon on October 14, 2025 in a hotel in the Lardos area of ​​Rhodes. In fact, everything that happened was recorded on video by the cameras that were in the area. From the video material, according to information, it appears that at 12:00 p.m., the little girl, unaccompanied by an adult, approached the pool ladder from the right side and entered the water alone, while there does not appear to be anyone else in the pool. About ten minutes later and while the child was covered by a life jacket, a woman who was on a nearby deckchair, saw it, took the little girl out and started to resuscitate her.

EKAV rescuers, Hospital doctors and a private doctor who were at the scene from the first moment, made a titanic effort to save the little girl, thus trying to keep her alive.

The tests that were then carried out at the Rhodes Hospital unfortunately showed that the unfortunate little girl was in a very critical condition and at 9 pm on October 14, 2025 she was transferred to the PAGNI Hospital in Heraklion, Crete where the doctors fought to keep her alive.

Two hours later on October 14, 2025, the 44-year-old British uncle and the 54-year-old Greek were arrested and brought before the competent District Attorney of Rhodes, where, after bringing criminal charges, they were referred for questioning and after the completion of the procedure, they were released, without conditions.

What did the accused say in their apologies?

According to information from the local media, the 54-year-old Greek apologist, accompanied by his lawyer Mr. Minas Tserkis, had explained to the Rhodes investigator that for the last 15 years he has been working for a British company organizing activities and holidays, which was founded in 1974 and is based in London. This company specializes in European seaside resort holidays and ski chalets in the Alps, and offers services such as childcare, watersports and PADI training, cycling tours and tennis academies.

His company cooperates with the specific hotel in Lardo, Rhodes, and within it has its own staff who are trained staff for entertainment and sports activities and providing one organized vacation program of activities essentially. The company’s staff in this particular hotel amounts to 50 people, and for the last two years the manager (on behalf of the company and not the hotel) is the 54-year-old.

In other words, he is responsible for all the company’s bookings and for all the company’s staff in the boats, daycares, gyms, animation, tennis, bicycles, water activities and pool activities, and only responsible for the company’s staff who are employed.

The 54-year-old had emphasized, among other things, that the hotel has nothing to do with its operation or safety rules, and that regarding the sad incident, he said that “He was not in the area and does not know what happened.” He offered to help when they were looking for the legal representative of the hotel and the manager, who were absent (the legal representative is abroad) and wanting to help the police authorities in their work, he told them to talk to him, as the person in charge of the company and as a person who could enlighten them on many issues because he knows the hotel well.

“I can’t understand why me arrestedand much more because I have been kept for so many days” the 54-year-old is reported to have said characteristically.

“I wasn’t with the little one,” said the uncle

He completely denied the charge attributed to him, in his apology on October 17, 2025 and o 44 year old uncleemphasizing, among other things, that from the entire file there is not the slightest element, the slightest testimony, that proves that on October 14, 2025 at around 11:50 a.m. he was entrusted by anyone with the custody of the little English girl, his niece. On the contrary, he said, all the testimonies agree on one point, that the little girl was not even with him, much less under his supervision.

The 44-year-old described in detail what all their relatives (16 people) who were on the island for vacation did, from early morning on October 14, 2025 until a few minutes before noon when the sad event happened.

As the Briton said, they had gone with their two brothers and their children for bathing in the sea and sometime they returned to the hotel and they sat in the pool the 54-year-old with his one brother and the latter’s daughter. In fact, his brother and his niece were in the water and the 54-year-old was outside. The foreigner said that all this time the little girl was not with them and they thought she was with her father, but when he also came and started asking them where his 2.5-year-old girl was, then everyone started looking for her.

The 54-year-old added that in any of the deposits that have been received there is no mention that he was assigned to look after the toddlerand that even his daughter-in-law (mother of the child) mentions that at some point she told him to take care of the little one, but he probably didn’t listen and adds that “anyone could be in the position of the 54-year-old and that he bears no responsibility”.

The foreigner emphasized based on the above that it appears that there was never any relevant dialogue between him and his bride, in which she asked him to take care of the little one, much less that the 54-year-old agreed. He also cited the other statements as well as those of his brother and the father of the minor girl, who states that the 54-year-old bears no responsibility.
