The problems plaguing the legal body were exposed by the candidate for president of the DSA, Dimitris Anastasopoulos, in contacts he had with the heads of the Justice Department of New Democracy and SYRIZA. The goal, he said, is “the emergence of the DSA as a serious institutional interlocutor of all social partners and all state actors. “The era of isolation and old-party trade unionism must end.”

In the meeting with Theofilos Xanthopoulos, Head of Justice of SYRIZA, they discussed the situation in the field of Justice and Law in particular. Mr. Anastasopoulos presented the positions of his combination on a number of issues, such as the need to support the weakest, the establishment of decent remuneration for trainees and new lawyers, the reduction of VAT and the abolition of the performance fee, the return of lawyers to contracts and evaluation of judges.

He raised similar issues at the event of the Justice sector of ND, where he took part on Monday. Mr. Anastasopoulos stressed the need for the support of lawyers, as they were affected by the restrictions of the pandemic without receiving the necessary support, while he stressed that the institutional role of the DSA needs to be upgraded.
