Fernando de Noronha no longer requires Covid test from visitors

by

The administration of Fernando de Noronha announced, this Wednesday (13), a relaxation of the health protocol for the entry of people into the archipelago. The new rules come into effect next Friday (15).

In the new protocol, visitors and residents will no longer need to present the exam with a negative result for Covid-19 at the time of boarding to Noronha. The archipelago is one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil and has a vast biodiversity and several beaches.

The mandatory digital proof of vaccination, with at least two doses of the Covid vaccine, remains mandatory for people over 18 years old. For people aged 55 and over, proof of the booster dose is also required.

Another change to the current protocol will be the requirement of at least one dose of the vaccine for adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. Children up to 11 years old do not need to present a vaccination card.

“As there are new advances in vaccination against Covid in the country, the complete vaccination schedule will also be required for those under 18 years old. It is an extra protection, both for those who visit and for those who live in Noronha”, he says. the Health Superintendent of Fernando de Noronha, Fernando Magalhães.

In November 2021, the administration of Noronha even dropped the requirement for tests to enter the archipelago. However, the measure was revoked in January, when there was a return to the requirement for the use of masks outdoors, in the face of the resurgence of Covid because of the omicron variant.

Since March 29, the use of masks in open places is no longer mandatory in Pernambuco.

Until this Thursday (14), the requirement for a test with a negative result for Covid is maintained, with the RT-PCR exam carried out no more than 48 hours before departure to Fernando de Noronha, in addition to proof of complete vaccination.

The rotating testing of visitors on the way out of Noronha is maintained in the new protocol, however, in a reduced form. Instead of 30% of passengers drawn for the exam, 20% will now be tested.

Currently, 100% of the adult population of Fernando de Noronha is vaccinated with at least two doses against Covid, according to the local administration.

The administration of Fernando de Noronha also provides a service via WhatsApp for interested parties to ask questions about the protocols for entering the island. Messages are answered by the local health surveillance team through the numbers (81) 98494-0313, (81) 98494-0520 and (81) 99488-4366. The service is from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm. On Saturdays, the hours are from 8 am to 12 pm.
