The court, accepting the independent allegations of the defense lawyers Mr. Panagiotis Avrithis and Evangelias Zavolas acquitted the accused of the second crime and guilty of child abuse, recognizing the mitigation of the previous legal life and imposed a total sentence of 8 years in prison with the appeal having the suspended force country, his appearance twice a month at the police station in his area and the ban on socializing with underage girls and their families.
Mr. Evangelos Mililis appeared at the trial on behalf of the family of the minor girls in support of the accusation.
During the hearing, the two parents of the girls testified, who described in court what the two girls had told them.
The 30-year-old apologized before the court, emphasizing, among other things, the love he has for his two nieces and the efforts he made to help both the minors and their families.
He denied that anything attributed to him had ever happened, and as to the fact that he sometimes slept with the girls, he said that this was something that their parents knew.
The 30-year-old also stressed that he could not commit the indecency they attribute to him since the place where they slept was a room in which besides him, his girls and parents also lived.
“(The children) did not have any problems, since they were growing up with me,” the 30-year-old told the court, adding after being asked by the judges why they should then accuse him of “wanting to hurt him under the influence of their parents”.
As for the bath he gave them, he apologized that this was done when the girls were younger and for about a year. The guilt of the accused was requested in her speech by the prosecutor of the headquarters.
The case was due to take place on April 4, but in order to be able to attend key witnesses, it was adjourned for yesterday.
The incident has unfolded on an island in the Dodecanese and according to the referral committee, it took the path of justice after a complaint was made by the parents of the two minor children to the police.
According to the court panel, everything allegedly started in 2013 and 2014. The two minor children were occasionally hosted in their grandmother’s house, as their parents worked and the 30-year-old also lived there.
One of these times, the accused allegedly committed an act that was not appropriate for one of the minor children, who was then 9-10 years old.
He is accused that the period from November 2017 to March 2019, during which he regularly temporarily supervised his nieces, whom he hosted in his house, he bathed separately the two minor children aged 11 and 13 years old respectively (in 2017) despite the fact that they were quite old and could do it on their own.
During the bath, the 30-year-old is accused of committing indecent acts while the same happened when he slept with the children (all three).
He is said to have caused bodily harm to children from November 2017 to March 2019, who are accused of slapping and biting their genitals. After the accusation against the 30-year-old, a criminal prosecution was instituted and he was referred to the interrogation, where, accompanied by his lawyer Mr. Costas Aslanis, he denied the accusations as they are attributed to him.
The 30-year-old even referred to the responsible statements made, a few days before his apology, by the parents of the two children, according to which they were convinced by the explanations he had given them and reconstructed the wrong impression that their behavior had caused them. .
Following the completion of the procedure, the 30-year-old was released on the restrictive conditions of being banned from leaving the country and appearing twice a month at the police station in his area.
