A luxury apartment was offered by the leader Kim Jong Un to a television news presenter who has been present on North Korean television screens for more than half a century, state media reported today.
Over the past 50 years, Ri Chun Hee has announced the most significant events in North Korean history, from the death of the nation’s “founding father” Kim Il Sung in 1994 to his first nuclear test in 2006.
Pictures in the state media show 70-year-old Ri with Kim Jong Un in an apartment complex on the river bank in the capital Pyongyang.

US and South Korean officials have warned that North Korea may be preparing for a new nuclear test on the anniversary.
