Tower: Killed, changed identity and hid for 11 years

An incredible story, reminiscent of a police thriller script, unfolded several years ago, in Ilia, and more specifically, in the city of Pyrgos.

According to the publications of ef. “Patris”, of the time, the 48-year-old PP, was hiding for 11 years behind another name and a different identity. Why did he do that? Because in 1945, he had gone to the city of Patras, and had killed a man with a whip.

“Erotic envy”

PP, was originally from Kladeos, but lived with his wife, and his two children, in the city of Pyrgos. In 1945, this man had an affair with a woman, who lived in Patras and worked as a prostitute. One night, the then 37-year-old PP went to find her. This woman was in a bar and having fun with SM, who is also said to be her lover. The 37-year-old made a big scene for her, which turned into a fight between the two erotic “jealous”. A fight that had a bloody ending, since the 37-year-old did not hesitate to pull out a face mask and stab S.M.

As soon as PP realized that he had fatally injured the victim, he fled, and returned to the Tower.

From that day and for eleven whole years this man escaped from the Authorities.

He returned to his family, had three more children with his wife, and to be sure that no one would find him, he forged some documents, and obtained a new identity under another name. Since his own, he was burdened by a decision from the Criminal Court of Patras, which sentenced him in absentia to fifteen and a half years in prison for the murder of S.M.

Serial rapist

The criminal action of PP, however, did not stop at the murder he committed in Patras. His next victim was a young girl, who, in fact, was also his relative. The unfortunate girl may not have been murdered like the first victim of PP, but she was tortured; she was tortured a lot. It was October 1948, when the 40-year-old man raped her for the first time.

The unfortunate girl trusted him completely and he had convinced her that he would help her marry a student she loved. Under the pretext of talking about this issue, he invited her to his house, after he had first made sure that both his wife and children were missing. He was immediately sexually assaulted, but she resisted. The 40-year-old then drugged her, and immediately afterwards raped her. But her nightmare was not over there. PP started threatening her that if he did not continue to satisfy his sick appetites, he would expel her, and so not only would the student he loved not marry her, but he would become a laughing stock in the local community.

The girl initially succumbed to his threats and lived moments of martyrdom in his arms. Until she could not stand it anymore and decided to talk to her mother, who immediately denounced the 40-year-old. He was prosecuted for these acts and denied any wrongdoing. “She can not prove anything, she is her reason against mine,” he had said, addressing the court.

It was July 11, 1956, when the Police of the Security of the Tower, completed the puzzle, and were led to the conclusion that the 46-year-old now, PP, is the man they were looking for for the murder of Patrinos SM, in Patras , in 1945.

They immediately proceeded to arrest him.

Although the 46-year-old initially denied that he was the one they were looking for, he later admitted that he had forged various documents, and that he obtained a new identity with a name other than his own. However, he gave another version of the murder of his erotic “rival”. He told the police that he had not pulled out a knife, but the victim, and that in fact, during the quarrel, he had injured himself with the mask he was holding. A narrative that of course was not valid and was not believed by the police authorities.

The time had come for the man with the dual identity to make his way to prison.
