At the same time, as it became known yesterday, the Athens Appellate Prosecutor’s Office appointed a special expert to assist in the work of the regular interrogator Christina Salappa who conducts the main interrogation for the murder of 9-year-old Georgina.

The appointment of the expert scientist was made by the Head of the Athens Appellate Prosecutor’s Office, Maria Gane. At the request of the interrogator, Ms. Gane appointed her Chara Spiliopoulou, Director of the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Laboratory of the Medical School of the University of Athens in order to support the work of the investigator.

Specifically in the investigative request it is mentioned according to information:

«Considering the way in which the crime of homicide was allegedly committed intentionally, by a perpetrator in a calm state of mind, namely through the use of a pharmacologically active substance left its mark on the post-mortem blood of the minor victim as it results from the specialized histological and toxicological examinations, in our opinion the forensic scientist after knowing the medical file of the patient as well as the histological and toxicological examinations that took place after her death, may point us out or recommend further actions to be taken, which only if made known to us by a person with expertise in forensic science will we be able to proceed with the appropriate investigations to further clarify the criminal act we are investigating».

It is noted that the act of appointing a specialist scientistMs. Gane, who supervised the interrogation, is provided for in the Code of Criminal Procedure, however, such acts are rarely signed. In this case, it was judged that this is a case of particular importance and that the scientist will assist the work of the investigator.
