Thessaloniki: Prosecution investigation for photos of models who seem to have ended up on dating sites

by

Research by EL.AS. ordered a prosecutor in Thessaloniki regarding the crime of personal data breach and victims young women who went to a modeling agency where they were photographed participating in various competitions, but this material ended up unknowingly – among other things – on closed dating sites.

The users of these websites seem – in fact – to have paid generously to exchange messages with the depicted girls, without knowing the slightest thing themselves, since, as they complain, such a thing was not provided for in the agreements they had signed.

The case recently reached the Courts of Thessaloniki after a lawsuit filed by a young woman and the accused owner of a modeling agency. The Single-Member Misdemeanor Court before which he was referred for the offense of tampering with personal data ruled that he had no jurisdiction to adjudicate the case and referred it to a higher Court for the act of breach of personal data.

Based on reports, the head of the Thessaloniki Court of First Instance ordered a preliminary investigation to identify any other victims or similar incidents (the above case file includes an affidavit of a second girl). The investigation was assigned to the Cybercrime Prosecution of Northern Greece.
