Last Saturday (16/4) in Athens, 28-year-old Syros, arrested on charges of continuous theft, was arrested by police officers of the Security Department of the Athens Airport Police Directorate.

Police have identified the 28-year-old as the perpetrator of theft of items by travelers and burglary of parked vehicles in the airport area.

According to ELAS, the 28-year-old was located, after searches, in the center of Athens and was arrested. In his possession were found electronic devices that he had allegedly removed earlier from an airport passenger. The perpetrator allegedly initially monitored the area to locate passengers and when they were busy, removed their bags and luggage.

He often changed his clothes in order to make it more difficult to locate him and immediately afterwards he boarded a public transport and escaped. In addition, according to the police, he took care to throw the backpacks and bags he was removing along the way, while the stolen items were channeled to thieves in the areas of Omonia Square and Monastiraki.

The Police investigation revealed 12 cases of theft, while the investigation to determine the extent of his criminal activity continues. The 28-year-old, who has been charged in the past for a number of crimes, was taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor
