New tension was noted on Holy Tuesday inside the AUTh between anti-authoritarians and police forces, with the anti-authoritarians demanding the recapture of space inside the university.
A group of 10 people on the roof of the School of Sciences threw objects, paints and bins at police forces. The group attacked with objects and against the people who work in the “Hangout in the Organic”.
It is reminded that today, Tuesday, the works in the “Hangout in the Biological” continue in the presence of strong police forces of MAT inside the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
An occupation that lasted 34 years
Early yesterday morning, special crews had gone to the spot and began to gradually remove the building materials, as well as all the other objects that were left in the area of ​​the former occupation (“Hangout in the Biological”), in order to begin the work of shaping the new library that is expected to serve according to academic principles, thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students and members of the research and teaching staff.
On December 31, strong police forces raided the occupation, which lasted for about 34 years, prompting reactions from anti-authoritarian students and supporters, leading to days of mobilization.
In fact, during them, they tried to make a new occupation of space, inside the AUTh, with the police forces intervening again on 12-1-2022, in order to return the space to the university.
