More than 225,000 video call appointments have been made with a total of public bodies

by

The 227,313 digital appointments have reached the myDESKlive platform to date, helping to avoid a corresponding number of physical visits to public bodies, according to data from the General Secretariat for Information Systems of Public Administration of the Ministry of Digital Government.

It is reminded that the digital appointments provide citizens with the opportunity to schedule a video call to an employee of the service they wish to contact, at a day and time that suits them. They started in May 2020 by the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), giving citizens the opportunity to obtain a key number without visiting their tax office. In July of the same year, the creation of myKEPlive followed, through which the appointments were established by video call at the Citizens’ Service Centers for specific services of the KEP.

In December 2020, it was put into operation myOAEDlive for consulting services of the Labor Employment Organization both to the unemployed and to companies. In the same month, myConsulLive was activated for the services of the local consular authorities, which is currently available from a total of 86 embassies and consulates of Greece in 55 countries. Finally, the video call appointments for three more services are in pilot operation, namely, eEFKA (myEFKAlive), the Hellenic Land Registry (myKtimatologioLive) and the municipalities (myDimosLive).

In this way, digital appointments have significantly contributed to reducing bureaucracy and citizen waiting at physical service points, saving time and avoiding overcrowding. At the same time, the work of the Management is facilitated, allowing the utilization of the staff in the best and most efficient way. Furthermore, special provision has been made for the service of people with disabilities, but also for scheduling appointments on behalf of a third party, in case this does not have Taxisnet codes or digital skills.

“Video-calling appointments started during the pandemic, as another tool to protect against the coronavirus”, stressed the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis, emphasizing that “the great response from the citizens confirms that they will remain as a tool after the pandemic, daily and acceleration of trade with the state. A few days ago, in fact, digital appointments became the first service we “export”, as their implementation began in Cyprus.

I would like to once again congratulate the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems for the design, implementation and ongoing support of the myDESKlive platform, but also to thank all the ministries involved for the excellent cooperation in the integration of new agencies and services in the platform. We continue to utilize digital technologies in order to make the contact of citizens and businesses with the State simpler, faster and easier “.

For his part, the Secretary General of Information Systems of Public Administration Demosthenes Anagnostopoulos stated that “digital appointments were an idea to make it even easier for citizens to handle without physical presence even procedures that we could not digitize directly. The large volume of digital appointments is very satisfying, as it shows us that citizens recognize in their daily lives the usefulness of the services we design and implement. It is this recognition that motivates us to increase and expand digital services. “
