Opinion – Marcelo Katsuki: Rua Augusta wins megastore of oriental products

by

Empório Daruma is Augusta’s new venture focused on the trade of oriental products. I went to visit the space and was surprised by the size and variety of items — more than 2,500 square meters divided into five store floors! For those who missed a store like this in the Paulista region, it’s a pleasant surprise.

The floors are divided by type of product, which allows you to have a good time having fun with the news and curiosities available on site. It even has a wall with a work by the artist Victor Lafayett inspired by Akihabara, where you can take selfies as if you were in Japan.

On the ground floor is the bombonière, food such as sushi and temakis to be taken home and the flower shop. On the second floor there is a market with pasta, sauces, seasonings, frozen foods, fresh produce and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages occupy the third floor with sake, shochus, whiskeys, gins, wines and even some premium cachaças. The variety is huge. The fourth floor is dedicated to perfumery, parties and gifts, while the fifth floor holds housewares and decorative objects.

Be sure to visit Daruma Coffee, which offers sweets from Hanami Confeitaria, by chef Cesar Yukio, and Nanaya, by chef Cris Sampei. It is close to the wine sector and has a comfortable balcony, perfect for meetings and even business meetings. Ideal to take a break after visiting all the floors, enjoying a choux cream accompanied by an invigorating matcha latte.
