“Easter in the village” after two years of restrictions due to coronavirus and Athenians are already crowded in ports, airports and highways to “escape” either to their places of origin or to popular destinations.

Traffic has been high since last Friday when schools closed, and the exit wave is expected to peak within the next 24 hours.

In the port of Piraeus there is already increased traffic with data showing that this year leaves four times more than in 2021. On Holy Monday departed 11,200 passengers, from 3,200 last year, while yesterday, Holy Tuesday, the number rose to 13,000, from 3,000 last year.

Traffic is also high on highways. According to the data of Olympia Odos, last Friday at the tolls of Elefsina was observed an increase of 9%, without a corresponding return on Sunday, compared to 2019. A peak is expected tomorrow Good Thursday from the national networks, which will continue on Good Friday .

Today, 14 ships depart from the port of Piraeus and 13 from Rafina. Ferries are now leaving at 100% full and ticket prices have risen, due to rising fuel prices.

At this time there is increased traffic in the port of Piraeus and especially in the section from the height of Gounari to Kononos.
