After two years without a party, due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the Oktoberfest of Blumenau will return in 2022 with news: the city hall announced that Spaten will be the official beer of the event, scheduled to take place between the 5th and 23rd of October this year .
Spaten is currently part of Ambev’s portfolio, the only company that participated in the bidding that defined the brewery for the Santa Catarina party. The German brand is one of the six official breweries of Munich’s Oktoberfest, the world’s biggest event in the style, alongside Paulaner, Augustiner, Hofbräu, Hacker Pschorr and Lowenbrau — in 2021, Spaten had already sponsored São Paulo Okotoberfest.
To win the bid, Ambev made a proposal of R$ 2.551 million, just above the minimum amount, but an amount 38% higher than the amount invested in the 2019 event. With this, Spaten will also be the beer of Sommerfest, scheduled for the summer of 2023.
The Blumenau party, the biggest in Brazil, will once again take place in the Vila Germanica Park pavilion. “It will be a special edition, with many attractions and news. This year’s party will have sustainability as a pillar and we are sure that the official brewery will be a partner in this idea”, said Marcelo Greuel, president of Parque Vila Germanica.
In 2019, the year of the last edition of the party, the official beer was Eisenbahn, a brand from Santa Catarina that currently belongs to the Heineken group. A project that would bring more artisanal brands to the 2020 party ended up being shelved with the health crisis.
