On Jazz Day, find out which bars in SP receive good jazz bands

by

Low-light environments, exposed brick walls decorated with instruments and menus watered with wine are some of the characteristics of bars in São Paulo that are inspired by the jazz houses of New Orleans, in the south of the United States.

The strongholds of the genre in São Paulo have a schedule full of performances and are an option to visit this Saturday (30), when International Jazz Day is celebrated.

The date was created in 2012 by American pianist, composer and arranger Herbie Hancock, to celebrate the rhythm that emerged in the early 20th century among the African-American community. Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald are some of the main names responsible for popularizing jazz around the world, which arrived in Brazilian lands around the 1950s.

The capital of São Paulo is home to classic bars, such as All of Jazz and Bourbon Street Music Club, which have been operating for more than two decades, as well as new ones, such as the Miles Wine Bar, which opened in 2021. Below, discover five of these places and the schedule for this week.
