The intermediate discounts start today, which will be valid until May 15, 2022. The shops will be open on Sunday, May 8.
According to the decision 40002 / 14-04-2022, of the Ministry of Development and Investment, based on what is provided by the last paragraph of par. 1 of article 16 of law 4177/2013, and because the first Sunday of May 2022 coincides with On the celebration of May Day, the possibility of operating commercial stores was postponed to next Sunday, ie on May 8, 2022.
The operation of the stores on Sunday, May 8, 2022 will be with suggested opening hours 11:00 – 18:00.
On the occasion of the launch of intermediate discounts but also during the holidays, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Stavros Kafounis, made the following statement:
“Expressing the demand of all businessmen but also of consumer representatives, I hope this will be the last time the obsolete institution of intermediate discounts is applied, which creates distortions in the market and does not allow lower initial prices in all types of beginning of the season. Happy Resurrection all over the world but also in the long-suffering market “.
It is reminded that consumers will enter the stores with a mask, as its mandatory use remains.
What consumers should be careful about
During the discounts, in addition to the indication of the old (usually deleted) and the new reduced price of the products and services that are sold at a discount, the indication and commercial communication of a discount percentage is also allowed.
Particular attention should be paid to the accuracy of discount announcements to the customer, with sanctions to the commercial world being severe.
Each benefit must be identical and respond to the announcement, financially, quantitatively and qualitatively.
In case of inspection, the shopkeepers should be able to prove that the old sale price indicated on the sign corresponds to reality.
