He extracted more than 77,000 euros from an elderly woman, under the pretext of alleged disinfection in her house, due to the coronavirus. The reason for the 52-year-old, that at noon last Friday, pretending to be a municipal employee, entered the house of the 80-year-old victim, in Agios Mamantas, Halkidiki.

Persuading the elderly woman to indicate to her where the money and other valuables were placed, the cunning man managed, without being noticed, to snatch 77,400 euros in cash and jewelry, which were inside the house, and then it became … smoke, with the help from an unknown accomplice who was waiting for her in a car. When the victim realized that it was a scam she turned to police Department of Nea Moudania, denouncing the incident.

The investigations led to the identification of the perpetrator (resident in a Roma settlement of Imathia), but it was not possible to locate her.

THE case file was sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Polygyros, while the investigations continue both for the 52-year-old (and any involvement in similar acts) and for her accomplice.
