Total Moon Eclipse: Watch NASA Video of the “Bloody Moon” in May

by

A total lunar eclipse occurred today at dawn on May 16, causing the cosmic phenomenon known as the “damned moon”. According to scientists, the moon passed in the shadow of the Earth, resulting in most of the world visible in the sky a reddish moon.

The total lunar eclipse was visible from the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, Africa and the eastern Pacific. There was also an annular eclipse which was visible from New Zealand, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. THE NASA made a live show at 04:32 in the morning.

Watch the video:

The “damn moon” peaked at 07:30 Greek time. This was the first of the two lunar eclipses of 2022. The next one will take place on November 8, 2022 and will be partially visible from Asia, Australia, North America, parts of northern and eastern Europe, the Arctic and most of South America.

Unlike a solar eclipse, which requires certified glasses, a lunar eclipse is a safe event. Also, unlike a solar eclipse, the totality phase lasts much longer than just a few minutes.

Lunar eclipses occur when the moon passes just behind the Earth in its shadow. Since the Earth and the Moon have slightly inclined orbits with each other, this generally happens a few times a year when the inclinations of the orbit are aligned. Depending on how this happens, there is a partial, total or annular eclipse.
