Full Glass: After 5 years and 77 labels, Molinarius launches its first ‘non-IPA’

by

In May 2017, Molinarius launched its first beer, the juicy IPA Miles Ahead, with an aroma reminiscent of yellow fruits, cloudy appearance and straw color. Since then, there have been another 76 labels, 10 of them in collaboration with other breweries, all with one thing in common: they were india pale ales or their variants —hazy IPA, double IPA, west coast IPA, neipa, brown IPA, etc.

Upon completing five years, the São Paulo brewery opens a new phase and launches its first non-IPA: Molinarius German Pilsner, a classic German style, refreshing, which gains a version with 5.3% alcohol and 36 IBU (bitterness scale that goes up to 120, and that is between 45 and 60 in IPAs).

Even putting the IPA aside for the moment, the brewery continues to bet on a more hop version of German pilsner. Launched this week at Empório Alto dos Pinheiros (Rua Vupabussu, 305, Pinheiros), the beer costs R$25 (500 ml mug).

“With the expansion in the elaboration and production of other styles of hop beers, Molinarius should have an important growth considering the increase in supply to a customer base in about 20 states that already work with the brand and the potential conquest of customers that have an audience for beers of these new styles”, stated Sérgio Müller, owner of the brand and whose surname he named the brewery (Molinarius would be the Latin version for Müller).

The microbrewery currently produces around 7,500 liters per month at the Cigana Cervejaria plant in Jaboticabal (São Paulo countryside).
