Another incident of violence between minors took place last Friday at 10:15 pm, at the junction of Pergamou and Rodopis streets, at the 8th High School Glyfadawith a 15-year-old victim.

The victim’s mother talking to him describes what happened.

The 15-year-old, as he said, was sitting with a classmate in the school yard when a 14-year-old approached them who verbally challenged them and then they got into a fight.

The 14-year-old hit the 15-year-old who then defended and then the first called for reinforcements. He called his 16-year-old brother, who after a while appeared with another 16-year-old.

The mother typically said that they acted as “professional bravos”. They beat the 15-year-old with punches and kicks to the body and headthreatened him with a knife and left him almost unconscious.

The child was taken to hospital, thanks to the help of his girlfriend who immediately called an ambulance. The 15-year-old described to the police the characteristics of the children who beat him and then the police located them and took them to the department.

“The worst nightmare for any parent is to call you and tell you that your child is unconscious from the wood,” the mother said characteristically at the moment when the child’s friend informed her about the incident.

He also stressed that the child is very terrified and afraid to go outwhile there are fears of retaliation for calling the police.

“We sympathize with the perpetrators’ parents, because they are also parents, but growing up a teenager with such a great deal of violence, you never know if your child will be the victim or the perpetrator,” said the 15-year-old mother.

Finally, the lawyer G. Marakakis who has taken over the case spoke of “emerging criminals” and juvenile gangs and stressed that there should be serious control by parents and the school.
