Nikos Androulakis insisted that targeted financial sanctions be imposed on individuals and a pan-European arms embargo on Turkey.
The speech of Nikos Androulakis, President of PASOK-Movement for Change in detail
“Only in recent months has Mr Erdogan:
– Calls for the demilitarization of the Greek islands of the Eastern Aegean, directly challenging the sovereignty of Greece
– Continues provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean and illegal activities in the enclave of Varosia, ignoring UN Security Council resolutions
– It blackmails Europe over Finland and Sweden’s entry into NATO, being the only country that has not imposed sanctions on Russia,
– Continues to violate human rights at home, with anyone questioning his power to become a direct enemy of the state or a terrorist, as seen in the case of Osman Kavala, Salahaddin Dermitas and trying to outlaw even the pro-Kurdish HDP
Colleagues,
The Union must not repeat with Erdogan the mistakes it made with Putin. Anyone who challenges international law must be treated the same. “Targeted financial sanctions on individuals and a pan-European arms embargo, as we have called for as a Parliament since September 2020.”
