Mr. Panagiotopoulos stated in this regard that in order to deal with anti-ship guided missiles (K / B), combined tactics are applied in the field, with priority given to the use of weapons of natural destruction of the threat (hard-kill, ie K / B surface – air, guns, anti-aircraft weapons systems, etc.) and, where appropriate, interference systems (Electronic Counter Measures – ECM) “.

In particular, as pointed out by the Minister of Defense:

  • Regarding the ECM, in the framework of the program of modernization of the units of the Hellenic Navy, it is foreseen the upgrade of the possibilities of electronic warfare means with the acquisition of ESM devices and the corresponding upgrade of the existing ECM systems, which are installed in MEKO type F / G and F / G type ‘S’. However, this program is classified “CONFIDENTIAL”, and therefore no further details can be disclosed, let alone through the present procedure,
  • In terms of Electronic Counter Counter Measures (ECCM), the existing radar and firing direction systems (SHPs) of all the impact units of the Navy, have high ECCM capabilities.
  • Finally, FDI type F / Gs will have from the beginning upgraded capabilities to intercept enemy K / Bs, while the integrated ECCM will be state of the art, but further information falls into a “SECRET” rating and can not be released.
