The Foreign Minister stressed that the first capital he visited when he took office was Cairo, which he has visited 10 times since.
“Egypt is an exemplary friend of Greece,” he said Nikos Dendias at a farewell dinner in honor of outgoing Egyptian Ambassador Ismail Ahmed Hairat.
During his toast, the Foreign Minister referred to the deepening of the strategic relations between Greece and Egypt in recent years, referring in particular to the conclusion of the agreement on the delimitation of the EEZ between the two countries on the basis of UNCLOS, in August 2020, as well as the Forum for gas in the Eastern Mediterranean, which is based in Cairo, according to diplomatic sources.

He referred to the frequent visits of the Egyptian counterpart of Sameh Soukri to Athens, the last one a few days ago, both bilaterally and multilaterally (eg Friendship Forum in February 2020, quadripartite also with the participation of Cyprus and France in November 2021).
N. Dendias characteristically stated that Egypt is an exemplary friend of Greece, and in this context it will continue to work for the deepening of the bilateral relations, as well as the EU-Egypt relations, underline diplomatic sources.
