THE Turkish Press and the private turkish television took their baton extreme challenges for Pserimosafter yesterday’s “reports” of the state news agency Anadolu and the Turkish state television.
It is reminded that Anadolu presented photos taken either by telephoto lens or by boat from the island of Pserimos where soldiers are seen, in order to… denounce its militarization and to serve the narrative of the Erdogan government on demilitarization.
What the Aksam newspaper writes today
The Aksam newspaper shows the photo of Anadolu from Pserimos, circles the Greek soldiers and writes “goats in military uniforms”, in an ironic pun with the word “Katsikonisi”, with which the Turks call the Greek island. Aksam even goes one step further and claims that Pserimos is in Turkish territorial waters.
What Yeni Safak writes
“Greece was caught on the spot,” writes Yeni Safak, noting that a military base has been set up in Pserimos just 8km from Bodrum. He accuses Greece of disobeying Lausanne and also refers to the visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the island.
What the Sabah newspaper writes
“Greece does not stop provocations”, writes the newspaper Sabah. He shows the same photos and states that there are heavy weapons and artillery forces.
The report of Haber Global
It was of a similar style TV report by the private network Haber Global.
“Heavy weapons were recorded in Pserimos, which is located 8 kilometers from Turkey, and their status is unclear. On the island, which should have been demilitarized, however, military installations were observed and a Greek flag was formed. “According to retired soldiers, this is a provocation.” says the Turkish presenter.
THE SKAI correspondent in Turkey Manolis Kostidisstressed that what happened in Pserimos by two Turkish state media in order to challenge its sovereignty, should be analyzed very seriously by our country. As he said, great care is needed throughout the summer and as Turkey goes to the polls. “Today it is with telephoto lenses, later we do not know how it will be and what can be done”, he stressed.
