Mitsotakis: ND conference postponed for the first quarter of 2022 due to pandemic

The postponement of the regular congress of ND, which was scheduled for December 3-5, for the first quarter of 2022, due to the start of the pandemic, was recently announced by the Prime Minister from the podium of the party’s pre-congress in Ioannina.

As Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out, the postponement of the conference was decided in order to harmonize ND with the prevailing climate in society and not to send the wrong message.

“Talking to several of our party executives and yesterday on our very nice tour we did in Western Macedonia and Epirus, I came to the conclusion that it is more appropriate at this time to postpone the organization of our regular conference for the first three months of 2022. I will wait the relevant recommendations of the organizing committee for the exact date. I have no doubt that we could organize an exemplary conference in compliance with all safety protocols. Obviously everyone who would come would be vaccinated and we could add the possibility to do a test in any case but I believe that in the current situation it would send the wrong message. “You know very well that during my presidency we implemented the institution of annual regular conferences with the exception of 2020 due to covid and I consider it imperative that we proceed with this small time shift so that we are in line with the general climate that prevails in society.” , stated characteristically.

At the same time, the Prime Minister nominated the president of ONNED, Pavlos Marinakis, as the new general secretary of the party.
