Zelensky: No one can rule out a Russian invasion of another country
For his part, the Ukrainian president warned that “no one can rule out a new Russian invasion of another neighboring country. Such an eventuality is possible.” He added that Russia is looking for space for anti-democratic tactics.
Security guarantees through dialogue with Russia were circumvented as early as 2014, noted Mr. Zelensky, who stressed that more security and more solidarity are needed now than ever.
He pointed out that through Gazprom, Russia is trying to create inflationary crisis in Europe and to break its unity. “We all have to answer the question of what we need to do to stop Russian aggression,” said Ukraine’s president, who added that his country is doing everything it can to ensure there are no gray areas.
“If all sanctions are applied 100% without exception, it will be difficult for the international community, but it will be even more difficult for Russia, and they will force it to stop this war,” assessed Mr. Zelensky, saying characteristically that the Ukrainian society expects the strengthening of international support, among other things, through the constant diplomatic pressure on the Kremlin.
He expressed gratitude to Europe and Greece for their support and urged their complete independence from Russia. “I am absolutely sure that with the preservation of unity and international support for the strengthening of Ukraine, we will seize victory in the future,” the Ukrainian president concluded, noting: “Europe should understand that this is not Ukraine’s war but Europe’s war. We are fighting for its protection.”
