The Franco-Italian long-range SAMP-T anti-aircraft system wants to buy o Turkish President, Tayyip Erdoganas he revealed after his meeting on Tuesday with the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi.
Erdogan said he already discussed the matter in detail with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the recent NATO Summit.
“We want to arrive an hour early in the signing phase for SAMP-T. We want the signatures in. Because this is of great importance to our defense systems. On this issue, we fully agreed with the Prime Minister (of Italy), there is no problem. Like, we also agreed with Macron. I wish as soon as possible to sign and move on,” he pointed out.
As the SKAI correspondent in Turkey explained Manolis Kostidisif the purchase of the Italian-French system goes ahead, it will allow Erdogan to make one maneuver in relation to Russian S-400 system in order to then ask for the sanctions against Turkey to be stopped, which would also satisfy the USA.
