The Minister for Housing, Communities and Regeneration, Michael Gove, was dismissed from the government by the Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson.

Having refused to resign despite the resignations of 41 government officials and pleas from close ministers, Mr Johnson on Wednesday night fired Mr Gove who had told him in the morning it was time to resign.

Messrs. Johnson and Gove were close partners in the Brexit campaign, and Mr Gove was the man who undermined Boris Johnson when he was vying for the Conservative leadership after David Cameron resigned.

Political commentators in Britain are expressing disbelief that Mr Johnson is staying put after what has happened since Tuesday night, with some likening him to Donald Trump.

Criticisms are also received by the ministers who, while allegedly asking the Prime Minister to resign, ultimately remain in his government.
