Erdogan’s direct threats to the Aegean islands

by

“I think that Mitsotakis does not know that the sovereignty of these islands was given while remaining under a civilian regime. I think he will find out,” President Toutkos told TRT – These activities carried out by Greece are contrary not only to the Lausanne Agreement, but also to the Paris Agreement, he added

New direct threats to the Greek islands in the Aegean were launched by Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In an interview he gave on Monday night to the Turkish channel TRT, the Turkish president directly questioned – once again – the sovereignty regime in the Aegean islands, saying that the Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Greece, they do not know that they were given a civilian status and that they will soon learn this. He also said that with the moves Athens is making, it violates both the Treaty of Lausanne and the Treaty of Paris, SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbul.

The Turkish president once again vented his anger against Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, referring to the meeting they had in Istanbul and Mitsotakis’ visit and speech to Congress, on USA.

“I said, ‘Come on, let’s have a meal’ about 1.5 months ago. We had dinner with Mitsotakis at Vahdettin Mansion. I told him “let’s not bring in a third country from now on, let’s set up a direct line, let’s negotiate.”

He went from there -s.s. he means in the USA – and he did similar things in Davos. We are Turkey, we are not a tribe. Then he stood up and said: “Turkey did this and that.” Since I am a politician, when I take any negative step towards Turkey, my first job is to have strong materials that I can tell my people.

There are 5+4=9 US bases in Greece. When you say this, they deny it. They plan to place them on the islands as well. They say it’s to defend against Russia. What power do you have? Even the US can’t do that.

Greece is trying to prevent us from buying planes for our security needs. They say “don’t give it to Turkey” addressing France in the US. But we maintain our position with our attitude. They learned the lesson from here.

These activities carried out by Greece are contrary not only to the Lausanne Agreement, but also to the Paris Agreement. I think that Mitsotakis does not know that the sovereignty of these islands was given while remaining under a civilian regime. I think he’ll find out.”

Sweden does not meet our NATO requirements

Erdogan also answered questions about Finland and Sweden joining NATO, saying that “concessions should not be expected from Turkey. We signed, we saw that the supporters of terrorism walk the streets of Stockholm. Sweden seems far from taking concrete steps at the moment.”
