“We will not have a lockdown” repeated the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, talking to the parliamentary editors, shortly after his greeting at the meeting organized by the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament on “Management of chronic diseases and promotion of screening after COID pandemic 19 “.
“This is the approach of all the countries that are being tested by the pandemic today. We are not the only ones who are facing a fourth wave “, said Mr. Mitsotakis and pointed out:
“The important thing is not just to see the number of cases. The cases are increased and there is an increasing trend, this is not disputed, but at the same time we are champions in Europe in the tests. So, what concerns us most is the positivity and less the absolute number of cases “.
Regarding the observed increase in cases, he said: “Yes, we have a pressure on the NSS, not negligible, especially in Northern Greece, nothing to do with what we had seen last November. We are much better prepared this time. “But it is a central political choice, since there is a vaccine, not to go into a lockdown,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.
Referring to the issue of sending text messages to the citizens, he said that “we use all the means at our disposal, including personalized communication, to encourage the citizens to do the right thing”.
Asked about the issue of extending the tests, Mr. Mitsotakis said: “What do we know ?. We know that the vaccinated, and when they transmit, transmit with much, much greater difficulty. Our main issue, then, is the tests on the unvaccinated. “Beyond that, how we will extend the test to vaccinated people will be indicated by the experts, but this is not the critical parameter at the moment in the phase we are in.”
