A strong wall against Turkish revisionism and ongoing tensions is being erected by Athens together with its partners, sending a clear message to Ankara that its challenges will continue to be “intercepted” with a strong “weapon” of Athens, its strong alliances and the International Fair enough.
In fact, in all tones, the Greek side declares that it is fully prepared diplomatically and in the field and continues to strengthen its alliances, strengthening even more its diplomatic armor against the fierce Turkish accusations against our country.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis once again set the tone of the Greek attitude towards the Turkish paroxysm by “taking advantage” of the powerful television platform of the American television network CNNunderlining that our country behaves responsibly towards Turkey and that the only framework for Greek-Turkish relations is International Law.
“We have been facing serious challenges from Turkey in recent months, I think President Erdogan would do his citizens a favor if he tried to revive the Turkish economy rather than trying to bring neo-Ottoman aspirations back to the fore” said the Greek Prime Minister and clarified “In any case, I will defend our national sovereignty and our sovereign rights and that is not negotiable.”
Germany is on Greece’s side
On the side of Greece against Turkey’s “front” stood the German Foreign Minister Analena Burbock, who today has her first official meetings with the Greek Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, but she made sure to give the mark of her intentions before even arriving. in our country, with an interview he gave to the newspaper “TA NEA” and after declaring that Greece can rely on Germany’s solidarity, he clearly called on Turkey to stop the threats.
This is a visit that acquires an even more symbolic but also essential role, not only for the public resounding support that Germany now provides to our country, but also for the fact that it is estimated that the discussions in Athens will strengthen the arguments of Mrs. Burbock as towards the Greek-Turkish issue, in order to convey, during the contacts that will follow in Turkey, messages from Berlin and Athens to put a brake on the revisionism of the ErdoÄŸan government.
Readiness of Athens and Nicosia for Turkish drilling
Against the background of Turkish provocation and in order to coordinate their joint actions to deal with Turkish revisionism, Nikos Dendias had a series of contacts in Nicosia yesterday, while together with his counterpart Ioannis Kasoulidis they sent messages of strength and determination and sending a message of respect for International Law . “Revisionism has ceased to be an acceptable practice and it is not possible for the international community to accept it, even passively,” emphasized Nikos Dendias, with his Cypriot counterpart adding that “As far as we are concerned, we will continue on the path of rationality, which is not other than that of International Law”
Nikos Dendias also responded to Mevlut Cavusoglu’s last challenge, who announced a letter to the UN about the Greek islands, clarifying that Greece has already responded. “The last Greek letter is sufficient for all the arguments. She will not spend her time in a perpetual exchange of letters with Turkey. If, of course, the Turkish side presents a new argument that needs an answer, it will be answered. But I think that it had to be said, it has been said,” remarked the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Moreover, the two ministers of Greece and Cyprus declared their readiness in view of the drilling planned by Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean in August, with Mr. Kasoulidis stressing that the drilling rig is expected and moves have already been made to prevent the creation of tensions in the Cypriot EEZ.
Next stop Paris
Nikos Dendias next stop is Paris where he will go today after his contacts with his German counterpart here in Athens. In the French capital, he will have his first one-on-one meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, after the French elections, where, according to diplomatic sources, Turkey’s provocative behavior will also be at the center of attention.
A meeting that is also expected to send resounding messages to Ankara in favor of respecting International Law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as resolving disputes on the basis of dialogue, while it will even more emphatically communicate to Ankara the ongoing and escalating strengthening of Athens’ international relations that make it a pillar of stability and security in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
