The professor commented that there is no other example of a leader moving at this pace of threats over many weeks.
Tayyip Erdogan’s open threats against Greece were analyzed by Angel Syrigos Professor of International Law and Deputy Minister of Education, on SKAI TV and the show “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias.
He explained that the phrase of the Turkish president “we will come suddenly at night”, is not accidental, but is a lyric of a song from 1974 and refers to the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Therefore, Erdogan’s speech yesterday had a message from 1922 with “we threw you into the sea, remember that” and from 1974 with “we will come at night” for the invasion of Cyprus.
Therefore, explained Mr. Syrigos, Erdogan’s message was “pay attention, because we are ready”.
The professor added that this is not an isolated behavior, but Ankara is constantly moving to the rhythm of threats to repeat ’22 and ’74.
“It is clear that there is no other example of an international leader moving at this pace for many weeks. It’s not something that happened yesterday on the occasion of the anniversary. Cavusoglu has been saying this for two months. Erdogan has been speaking in these tones for over 1.5 months,” Mr. Syrigos emphasized.
