In the coming weeks and until the beginning of the year, the platform for vaccination of children aged 5-11 will open, if the country receives the vaccines with the appropriate dosage, said the government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou, during the briefing of the political authors.

“The committee gave the green light to vaccinate children aged 5-11. The platform will open as soon as the vaccines are received, which have different dosages. “In the coming weeks or at the beginning of the year, we will have them at our disposal,” he said characteristically.

He ruled out new measures ahead of Christmas, stressing that the government’s strategy focuses on increasing vaccination coverage, expanding controls and strengthening the NSS.

In this context, he noted that since the day it was announced that vaccinations are mandatory for citizens over 60, 59,844 first-dose appointments have been made, which corresponds to 1/10 of the total population of this age group that remains unvaccinated. He stressed that the imposition of a fine is not an end in itself, but a means to the universality of vaccinations.

Regarding the administration of the third installment in 3 months, Mr. Economou pointed out that since last Saturday when the platform opened, 535,662 appointments have been scheduled and the capacity is expected to increase further.
