The minister described the Akritas plan as “a plan to shield our borders, a plan to respect International Law and respect human life”, which includes, among other things:
– the extension of the fence along all the Greek-Turkish borders on the Evros,
– the strengthening of the staff with 250 new recruitments of border guards and
– the strengthening and upgrading of electronic means of surveillance.
“With the Akritas project we send a clear message of national determination: Against those who, by investing in human suffering, attempt to promote hidden and alien pursuits. And against those who, using immigration as a tool, are trying to blackmail Europe itself,” said the minister.
At the same time, he received in Feres five new armored vehicles, specially equipped, which are placed at the service of the Hellenic Army. for effective border guarding.
