Behind closed doors and with complete secrecy, it was decided by a majority to conduct the work of the Commission of Inquiry to investigate the case of violation of the confidentiality of the communications of the president of PASOK-KINAL and MEP Nikos Androulakis by the EYP or by other natural or legal persons, the confirmed attempt to trap his mobile phone with the Predator malware, its illegal use in the territory and the investigation into the responsibilities of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and any other natural or legal person involved.
The Committee decided that the minutes of the meetings should not be made public or distributed. However, the Members of Parliament of the Commission will have access to them, in a special room where they will be kept for reasons of confidentiality, issues related to national security and personal data.
The decision was taken by majority, gathering 16 positive votes. Minority parties proposed that the meetings should not be broadcast by the Parliament Channel, but that the minutes should be made public, after first the bureau or the Commission decides to omit from the publication references to classified national information.
It was also decided that the work of the Committee would be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The work of the Commission will continue tomorrow at 9 am, where the issue of the possibility of invoking by the witnesses the confidentiality of data or information requested of them and concerning the EYP will be raised. Also, at tomorrow’s meeting, the parties will submit their first proposals for the persons they want to invite for consideration by the Commission.
