Ropes for TEF: Thessaloniki is an investment destination and knowledge hub

by

The Delegation of the European Commission in Greece is “present” at the TIF for the fourth consecutive year, since, as Mr. Schinas pointed out, “it has a long-standing, consistent, stable commitment to the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki”.

The gradual emergence of Thessaloniki as an investment destination and knowledge hub was mentioned by Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas, who inaugurated the stand of the Delegation of the European Commission in Greece, at the 86th TIF.

“Our presence this year is consistent with the gradual emergence of Thessaloniki as an investment destination, as an important hub in the knowledge society, with many world-renowned giants settling in the city, with a tourism year that went exceptionally well”, underlined Mr. Schoinas. “All the early signs of this development in difficult times, I think, concern Thessaloniki and Europe, as always, will be next to this great development effort”, he added.

The European Commission space is located in front of stand 10 and has a central theme of skills. This, Mr. Schinas emphasized, is a matter of great importance for the competitiveness of the Greek economy, in which Thessaloniki can play a leading role, as it is the headquarters of the European organization CEDEFOP for vocational training.

The young people who will visit the stand will have the opportunity to learn how to get to know Europe through the Discover EU program, while there will be events on vocational education and training, the circular economy and climate change.

At the opening event, a choir from the Children’s Asylum performed, among other things, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. The stand was visited by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis and the MEP of New Democracy, Stelios Kymbouropoulos.
