The Church of Greece through the anonymous company “SCHISTO S.A.” seeks the holistic utilization of the specific privately owned area, approximately 3,000 acres

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the event held in Schistos for the signing of an agreement between the Church of Greece and TAIPED for the utilization of Property belonging to the Ecclesiastical Central Finance Service of the Church (EKYO).

As the prime minister mentioned, in the presence of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Ieronymos, “today, Your Beatitude, we are taking this important first step in order to realize a vision that you had and that we had the opportunity to discuss many times. This vision lies in the ability of the Church to finally be able to utilize the remaining real estate for the benefit of the entire Greek people”.

“And the possibility of developing a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, logistics center, transport and container management and more, seems like a self-evident necessity, if one takes into account the great importance and dynamics that are developing in the port of Piraeus. I also don’t want to say too many things about the very great importance that we as a government attach to the development dynamics of western Attica”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized, adding that “apart from the development initiative that will unfold in this area, at the same time , to be able to plant many new trees and give the local communities a large park in an area that is currently not a place that can be visited”.

“We want the Church to be able to exploit its real estate and, through the income from this real estate, to be able to support its extremely rich and important social work,” noted the Prime Minister.

The Church of Greece, through the limited company “SCHISTO S.A.”, which it has already set up, seeks the holistic utilization of this privately owned area, approximately 3,000 acres, located in a pivotal position as it borders Piraeus, the largest port, to the southeast of the country and to the north with the region of Skaramanga.

In the new proposed location, the Environmental Recreation Park will have twice the area of the existing one.

The project will be financed from the Church of Greece’s own resources and the duration of its implementation until its completion and the start of its operation is approximately four years.

TAIPED will cooperate with the Beneficiary of the project for the maturation and implementation of the tender procedures and the monitoring of the execution of the contracts.
