Picsiorlas to SKAI: I don’t want to believe that there was an order to monitor me from Tsipras

Shocked by the reports of the former commander of the EYP Yannis Roubatis the former president of TAIPED and former Deputy Minister of Economy and Development under SYRIZA/ANEL told SKAI about his attendance Stergios Piciorlas, stating that he will appeal to Justice.

“I don’t want to believe it, and I don’t believe it, that there was an order from Tsipras for my follow up. I will wait for the official placements. Maybe I see it a little romantically” said Mr. Piciorlas (…) “Besides being absurd, I also consider it unthinkable. I will wait,” he said.

“I was shocked and I am appealing to the Justice for my monitoring of the SYRIZA government. For the first time after 15 days of saying otherwise, it was admitted that there was immediate follow-up. Directly and only to me, while it was said that ‘we found out from the previous government that Sayas and Picsiorlas were being monitored, we made one the secretary of the government and the other the president of TAIPED and we continued the monitoring,'” he said characteristically.

“This makes no sense,” added Mr. Piciorlas. “And then indirect surveillance collapsed as well. For 15 days, two lies were told, they had also been filed in competent parliamentary procedures, not only were they leaking. Yesterday it was admitted that there was direct surveillance. There was also an excuse: that I, as the president of TAIPED, was negotiating the sale of islands, lands, etc. and that I was a manager of a company with Syrian interests at first, then Arab ones… I went to TAIPED in March 2015. After the elections and after SYRIZA became the government . We are talking about two cases, Oxya – Zakynthos, which had expired a year or two ago. That is, Oxya was sold in ’13, another government, Zakynthos in ’14, another government”.

As he pointed out, “for this kind of buying and selling, because these are sensitive issues, a license is required either from the Ministry of Defense or from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a recommendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I, as the president, did not deal with any buying and selling, but with other serious matters of responsibility of TAIPED”.

“Obviously they are lies (what Yannis Roubatis said). It was impossible to negotiate a sale that had been completed 1 to 2 years before. If I were a manager of a company, it can be checked, it’s very easy,” he stressed.

According to Stergio Picciorla, “the day I went to TAIPED I resigned from all professional activities which was elsewhere. “During 2014, I met the executives of this company, Primana, they were active in Greece representing the interests of the Emir of Qatar and made various investments. I had a friendly relationship with them, but not a professional one, but during this period these people had contacts with the whole Greek market to invest and I tried to help them before I became president…” he noted, denying that he was a representative of business interests.

“I want to believe that because all the evidence (S.R. Rubati) has no relation to reality, I want to believe that this too has no relation to reality, that there was no order from Tsipras to monitor me,” he insisted.

“It is proven by a series of things that (what Rubatis says) are lies: The first version of Sayas-Pichiorlas was watched by Samaras. When this collapsed, ‘Sayas-Pichiorlas was being watched indirectly’. Third version: ‘Only Piciorlas immediately’. Doesn’t that prove that these things being said are not true?’ asked Mr. Piciorlas. “Syrian funds are funny things…”.

Asked what he would say to Alexis Tsipras if he were in front of him, the former president of TAIPED replied: “something very simple… A ‘why?’ I expected there to be a public response much earlier… I will continue to wait for that public response.”
