Nikos Dendias in New York for the UN General Assembly – Meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Egypt

At New York the foreign minister goes during the day Nikos Dendias in order to participate in the High Level week of the 77th UN General Assembly.

From Monday 19 to Friday 23 September, he will hold a series of bilateral and multilateral contacts, among them the tripartite meeting of the ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, while he is also expected to participate in meetings of the Prime Minister.

In the context of the meetings, in addition to matters of strengthening bilateral relations, issues of regional and global interest will also be discussed, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the energy crisis, developments in North Africa, the SE Mediterranean, the Western Balkans as well as the promotion of the Greek candidacy for a seat on the UN Security Council in the period 2025-26, the candidacy for the Human Rights Council in the period 2028-30 and the Presidency of the UN General Assembly in 2035. A number of bilateral agreements are also expected to be signed.
