They broadcast a common message in Ankara Athena and Nicosia from New York, while the Turkish provocation is “fueled” by himself Tayyip Erdogan, with new threats and non-existent accusations against the Greek side. The clear position of the Greek side was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias immediately after the meeting he had with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulidis on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly stressing that “Greece and Cyprus always come together with one axis and one common gospel: adherence to International Law, the rights of independence and territorial integrity of all states, and, of course, also in the International Law of the Sea”.

In the wake of its removal US embargo on arms sales to CyprusMr. Dendias expressed Greece’s strong satisfaction emphasizing the contribution of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and senators Bob Menendez and his Marco Rubio. “This is a reward for the consistent attitude of the Republic of Cyprus all these years. The new perception, which exists, of total cooperation against any form of aggression” commented the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the same time, Mr. Dendias referred to the coordinated actions of Greece and Cyprus, noting how useful it is for Athens and Nicosia to coordinate in view of critical contacts and joint efforts.

In this context, Nikos Dendias together with Ioannis Kasoulidis they had a tripartite meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and had the opportunity to jointly articulate the firm position in favor of the independence and territorial integrity of Armenia, while issuing a joint message against all forms of revisionism. “Any revisionism, from wherever it comes from, from whatever country it starts – and, in fact, with the attempt to use the energy situation as a weapon against certain states and to attempt changes on the ground – will find us opposed” stressed the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Erdogan his “hava”.

Despite the repeated messages of deterrence and de-escalation of Turkish challenges received on an international scale by Tayyip Erdogan and his government, the Turkish president insists on raising the tone of aggravation and absurdity. After his false accusations Mevlut Cavusoglu for allegedly harassing Turkish fighters, Tayyip Erdogan from the United States followed up with new incendiary statements stating that “In the Black Sea, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean there is a Turkey with a strong army, strong diplomacy and is determined to defend its rights” turning white into black according to the favorite tactic of Turkish propaganda and “showing” Greece as a disturbance in the region.

At the same time, the Turkish president obviously disturbed by the rupture in his country’s relations with the US he attempted a new opening to the other side of the Atlantic and to President Biden, noting that there is no problem that Washington and Ankara cannot solve as strategic partners and allies for 70 years and noted: “We are together in NATO. Turkey is one of the first important members of NATO and in terms of financial contribution as well as correspondingly we strengthen with our land army. We are one of the five largest countries. So Turkey’s position must be understood to become understandable and decisions and steps should be taken with this data”. He also sent a call to Washington, expressing the hope that Turkey hopes to resolve any problems it has in its relations with the US in the near future, as well as to develop their cooperation within the framework of common interest.

International sewing in Ankara

At the moment, Ankara “collects” only “prohibitives” for its anti-Greek delusions with the new rapture coming from Brussels and the EU’s high representative for foreign policy and defense issues, Joseph Borel.

In a letter to the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Mr. Borel tried to put a brake on the Turkish provocation and in response to a previous letter from Mr. Çavuşoğlu, he interpreted that “overflights from above Greek territory, statements questioning Greece’s non-negotiable sovereignty over Aegean islands, as well as the escalation of hostile rhetoric against Greece and the Greek people, go in the opposite direction of de-escalation. Moreover, they create a negative dynamic , from which there is no benefit. The delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Continental Shelf should be done through good faith dialogue, with full respect for International Law and the UN Convention on the International Law of the Sea.” stated and expressed the belief that the only way to promote good neighborly relations is the firm adherence to international agreements and the peaceful resolution of disputes including recourse to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

In the US, the continuation of the internationalization of Turkish provocation

Today the prime minister goes to New York for the UN General Assembly, where together with Nikos Dendias they will have a series of contacts, during which they will have the opportunity, among other things, to discuss the Turkish escalation. “I will have more than 30 contacts myself, and if you take into account a large number of contacts that Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis will also have, I think that in total we will have more than 40-45 meetings” announced Nikos Dendias, noting that “it is a brilliant opportunity to deepen the relations we already have, but also to explain to all our interlocutors the constructive role that Greece plays in its wider region – both in the Balkans and in the Eastern Mediterranean. And, of course, to promote the great national issue of Cyprus”.
