Tsipras in Prague: his speech at the Eurosocialists’ rally on three axes

The president of SYRIZA will also refer to Turkey’s extreme rhetoric

The president of SYRIZA is in Prague, Alexis Tsiprasin order to participate in the pre-convention of the Eurosocialists, where he will develop his positions on three axes, also referring to the dangerous escalation of Turkish rhetoric towards Greece.

The first axis concerns the support of the initiative Gentiloni – Breton for a financial tool to address the energy crisis. It will propose the issuance of a common Eurobond aimed at reducing energy costs and financing targeted national interventions.
The AT is expected to emphasize that

“The only sure way to face a debt crisis in Europe again is to continue a ‘national subsidy race’ that will leave huge room for profiteering and uncontrollable deficits. Finally we have to decide if our future is solidarity or each for themselves and whoever can endure, as seems to be choosing Germany. This is not the Europe of our values.”

The second axis concerns the need for the EU to undertake diplomatic initiatives to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine. AT is expected to recall the Draghi initiative and ask the question: “Will we fight for peace?”

Are we going to deal with Europe’s interest or are we going to walk like sleepwalkers towards the cliff, letting developments be determined exclusively by Putin with his aggressive plans and the USA with their economic interests?”

And finally, he will refer to the Turkish aggression and the recent illegal Turkolib Agreementurging the EU to immediately decide on a package of sanctions against Turkey, which will be activated if the latter violates Greece’s sovereign rights with investigations west of the 28th noon.

He is expected to emphasize that “There should be no repetition of his judgment Oruc Reis. The EU must take its decisions on sanctions and – in this context – Greece must decide on the extension of its territorial waters in the Eastern Mediterranean as provided for by international law.”
