Its reach may have caused fear in Greece, Mustafa Varank said
New provocative statements from Turkey, this time from Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, who said that the Tayfun project has caused fear in Greece.
“The Tayfun project is about the missile system that has a range of 500 kilometers. We’re talking about a ballistic missile here. It is a rocket made with the research and technology of our company Roketsan. and it was produced with our own technology. Its reach may have caused fear in Greece. But I must say that even before this missile we had already started the production of missiles with a range of at least 300 kilometers.
We had already started production of the long-range missiles, which can be used by our drones and are an important force multiplier. As a result the Tayfun missile is not a terrible design given our technological capabilities as well as Roketsan’s capabilities. We have the ability to do more sophisticated things and programs and they are already moving forward.”
The pro-government newspaper Hurriyet comments on the presence of the American ambassador to Greece in Thassos, noting that he is participating in the ceremonies of the island’s liberation from the Ottoman Empire.
“The US has clearly shown its support for Greece, which is violating treaties and militarizing the islands. The US ambassador in Athens of Greek descent, George Tsounis, at the parade applauded the Greek soldiers on the island that Greece is illegally militarizing.”
For his part, the Minister of the Interior of Turkey, Süleyman Soylu, at a meeting of the Immigration Council in Gölbaşı province, said:
“What Europe is trying to do is very simple and clear. Through Frontex, it gives Greece the power to prevent migration with violence and death, in other words to protect its borders, the country itself.
In the countries through which the migration routes pass, i.e. in Turkey, with the policies it produces (including Europe) and the policies it implements, with the help of its strategic allies within our country, it forms a perception through which an attempt is made to instill xenophobia so that we are thus forced to carry out inhumane treatment and murders such as those committed by Greece on our own borders. They want the scenes recorded in Greece to start happening in Turkey as well, in order to prevent immigration.
And while they fail to do that, they make shameless proposals and try to blame all the problems on us by saying “so what if we keep all the immigrants there?”.
We are not anyone’s immigration depot. We are nobody’s toy. Countries with limited policies and no vision have no advice to give to Turkey. Just as the West pretends to be against the PYD and the PKK when it comes to terrorism, so it does (and pretends to) when it comes to immigration. […]
In 2020, 2021, 2022 a total of 69,375 violent pushbacks took place in the Aegean and on our western borders. As a result of these violent pushbacks, 170 migrants lost their lives and 780 migrants were injured. And all these cases have been recorded. All this (the evidence) has been sent to all international courts and institutions. […]
Is there understanding? Of course not. The Civil Liberties Committee of the European Parliament sent a letter to the EU Commission. It asked Greece to condemn these practices and take measures. The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Greek security forces broke the law and ordered Greece to pay compensation after a pushback incident in which 11 people were killed.
In other words, Greece’s behavior has embarrassed even Europe, yet they continue to try to jointly mount perception management operations against Turkey.
The inhumane treatment and actions on the part of Greece have been exposed both by pictures and international reports. In his speech at the UN, our President Erdogan openly presented before everyone, with proof, the inhumane methods of Greece. We are of course aware of the desperate position in which Greece found itself before the international public.
Greece’s games against us are of course the result of low-level politics, and an indication of (Greece’s) pathetic position and weakness. 9-month-old Asım and 4-year-old Abdulvahap [σ.σ. ονόματα παιδιών που χρησιμοποίησε ο Τ/Πρόεδρος στην ομιλία του στον ΟΗΕ] they were left to die like baby Aylan.
They came from Lebanon and were heading to Italy when they fell into the Aegean and unfortunately the Greeks pushed them to their deaths. The most shameful photo of the 21st century, in which a father pulls his 9-month-old baby by his leg, has once again demonstrated the inhumanity of Greece and Europe.
They project as many slanders and lies as they can so that their own culture is not soiled. In 2020, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen described Greece as the protective shield of Europe and thanked her. In other words, he estimated that the policy I just described was very well implemented by Greece for their sake […]».
