The parliamentary elections of 2023 will be held with the data of the new census, the minister of the interior, Makis Voridis, told SKAI.

He noted that based on the Constitution, the allocation of seats will be based on the legal population of each region and the data will be available from 12/31 onwards.

Mr. Voridis explained that there are two versions of what is considered the last census act.

One should be considered the last census, i.e. the last email or phone, which was done last February-March and the other as the last census act should be considered the last legal act related to the census, which has not been completed.

If the first version is taken into account, the data of the new census for the elections are valid from February-March 2023. If the second version is taken into account, then they are valid from 12/31/23, i.e. after the elections.

He made it clear that the government will consider the first version.

Regarding the dates of the elections, he noted that the self-governing ones will take place in October 2023on the date prescribed by law.

Regarding the national elections, he emphasized that the prime minister will take into account various parameters such as the pan-Hellenic exams and the summer period.

As he actually noted, politically, April is the same as June.

Regarding the possibility of electronic voting, he emphasized that we are still far away as in order for this to happen there must be a broad majority and an agreement in the Parliament.

He even stated that the left is reacting to this eventuality.

As the influence of the left decreases, the closer we will be to electronic voting, stressed Mr. Voridis.
