Tips for Greece – It also announced a ground operation against Kurdish targets in Iraq and Syria – “I did not inform anyone about the aerial operation”

The president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey expects Egypt to “bring peace” together in the Mediterranean. To establish peace, he observed, against those who “take a stand against us”, leaving spikes for Greece.

In the wake of his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Qatar, the Turkish president said a step had been taken towards normalizing relations with Egypt, saying “Ankara hopes to move forward with high-level meetings”.

He also announced a ground operation against Kurdish targets

Tayyip Erdogan also announced a ground operation against Kurdish targets in northern Iraq and northern Syria to “eliminate the terrorist threat.” “It is not possible to limit ourselves to air operations!” he said characteristically.

“As we have said before if someone disturbs our country and our land, we will make them pay the price. Thus, there are terrorist organizations in our south that are planning many attacks or that are carrying out such attacks and are a threat (to Turkey),” Erdogan told reporters on the presidential plane upon returning from his trip to Qatar.

“This is not limited only in an air operation,” Erdogan stressed, adding that the relevant forces will hold their consultations and take appropriate measures.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense said the operation was carried out in accordance with the right of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, following the attack in Istanbul.

Erdogan said nearly 70 aircraft, including armed drones, were involved in the air operation, adding that a total of 89 terrorist targets were destroyed, including shelters, warehouses, caves, tunnels and ammunition depots.

“45 terrorist targets were hit at a depth of about 140 kilometers in northern Iraq and 44 targets at a depth of about 20 kilometers in Syria,” he said.

Asked if Turkey had informed Russia and the US about this operation, Erdogan said: “We have not had any conversation with Joe Biden or Putin about this operation. However, both Biden and Putin already know that we can do ‘such things’ (ie military operations) against Kurdish targets in this area at any time”.

Turkey is with the US in NATO, Erdogan also said, noting, however, that Washington “unfortunately has sent thousands of equipment, ammunition and weapons to the terror zones in Syria.”
