KYA has been published on the support measures for those affected by the floods in Crete – What is in force

The decision, in particular, provides for the extension of payment and suspension of collection of confirmed debts for natural and legal persons affected by the severe weather phenomena of October 15, 2022

The decision of the Deputy Minister of Finance was published, which activates a series of facilities for those affected by the floods of the previous month in Crete, such as the suspension of lightning obligations.

The decision, in particular, provides for the extension of payment and suspension of collection of confirmed debts for the natural and legal persons affected by the severe weather phenomena of October 15, 2022 in the Regional Units of Heraklion and Lasithi (Government Gazette B’ 5871/17.11.2022).

Based on this decision:

* The deadlines for the payment of debts certified to DOU/KEMEEP/KEFOMEP/KEBEIS, which expire or expired between October 15, 2022 and April 18, 2023, are extended until April 18, 2023.

* Installment installments/facilities that expire or have expired from October 15, 2022 through April 18, 2023, are extended after the end of the adjustment program. The total duration for these arrangements is extended during the months of the granted extension.

* The payment of confirmed and due on October 15, 2022 debts is suspended until April 18, 2023.

* Any paid surcharges/interests/late payment charges imposed on the debts of the first two paragraphs, from October 15, 2022 until the effective date of the ministerial decision, shall be returned following a relevant request of the taxpayer to the competent agency. Also, arrangements that may have been lost from October 15, 2022 until the effective date of the decision are revived following a relevant request from the taxpayer.

On the occasion of the publication of the decision, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, responsible for State Aid and Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters, Christos Triandopoulos, states: “One more of the measures announced by the government to support those affected by the extreme weather events of the 15 October in Crete was implemented. By decision of the Deputy Minister of Finance, the extension of payment and suspension of collection of confirmed debts for natural and legal persons affected by the floods in question is foreseen. Thanks to Mr. Ap. Vesyropoulos. We continue in close cooperation with the competent agencies for the implementation of all the support and rehabilitation measures in the affected areas”.
