The press representative of PASOK-KINAL talked about the structural problems of the bill for the EYP
“Unfortunately, we are waiting for the validation of the government’s persistent choice for cover-up and obfuscation, contrary to the Prime Minister’s own announcements for full light on the case of surveillance”, while he added that the bill “also validates the authoritarian mode of operation of the staff state, as the views of the Parliament, the parties, all agencies and independent authorities were completely ignored,” he said to SKAI 100.3 and the Pavlos Tsimas, the press representative of PASOK-KINAL, Dimitris Manzos.
He spoke, at the same time, about structural problems of the plan, pointing out on the one hand the “expansion of the term of national security”, and on the other hand “the three-year notification of the person being monitored, which in fact does not cover the reason for the monitoring”.
Commenting on the fact that the case of surveillance has developed into an opposition flag for SYRIZA, Dimitris Manzos emphasized that “it is a tactical choice how a faction will handle such an issue and whether it will exploit it for political or even parapolitical reasons. We believe that what a political force must do is to show the highest possible seriousness and institutional consistency. We have done this since day one. We went directly to justice and not to journalists and publishing houses for reports and headlines.”
The Press Spokesman of PASOK-Movement of Change made it clear that the faction is far from toxicity and shadows, while he spoke of “the historical responsibility of the ND which not only failed to dispel the shadows but maintained them, while all citizens should we go to the polls knowing the truth. The fog suffocates everything, the just and the unjust, while there is the institutional framework and the rules so that the Parliament and the Judiciary can give us crucial answers”.
Invited to comment the opinion of Antonis Samaras regarding secrecy as a “convenient excuse”, Dimitris Manzos reminded that “it is not only MPs and former prime ministers, but all the constitutionalists of the country who express objections. All the politically liberal people of the country have positioned themselves on the issue.”
“If the ND wants to be considered a liberal faction, it should not have one, two, three dissenters, but all its MPs opposite. But, words in politics are easy. The measure of everyone’s responsibility is the vote, and the ND MPs tell us that they will vote for the draft law with their hands and feet,” he noted.
