Pavlos Marinakis on the Kailis case: “A recital of hypocrisy and audacity by Androulakis”

by

The secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy launched an attack on Nikos Androulakis, referring to the case of Eva Kaili and the stance of PASOK

Pavlos Marinakis speaks of a “recital of hypocrisy and audacity” by Nikos Androulakis in his related announcement, referring to the case of Eva Kailis and PASOK’s attitude towards the issue.

The secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy, Pavlos Marinakis, said, among other things, that “the reality is clear: a PASOK official is under investigation. Trying to charge this executive in New Democracy is a recital of audacity.” Pavlos Marinakis concluded: “Now again, is New Democracy to blame for the country’s expulsion from the involvement of a Greek MEP in such a serious case?”

The statement of Pavlos Marinakis in detail:

The case of corruption in the Eurogroup of Socialists and Democrats is shocking news. And it is a double shock when for the first time a member of the European Parliament who comes from our country and, in particular, from the PASOK party, is involved with such serious charges.

The presumption of innocence of those accused is self-evident. Equally necessary, however, is the investigation of a case concerning the erosion of the rule of law and the European acquis.

Neither the crooked justice nor the hypocrisy of Nikos Androulakis helps in this direction. The reality is clear: a PASOK executive is under investigation. Trying to charge this executive to New Democracy is a recital of audacity.

Really, will he have the courage to attribute to himself now the same “presumption of guilt” that he has invoked for so long? Or is he entitled not to know? It claimed that surveillance of an MEP is illegal by definition. Does he really, after what has come to light, insist that no one should be monitored, even for such matters?

It is the first time in history that a party leader charges a prominent and sitting official of his party to another party. Unfortunately for Mr. Androulakis, the truth is one: that a PASOK MEP is being investigated for corruption. Instead of talking about “Trojan horses” and “green horses”, let Mr. Androulakis take the responsibility for the unprecedented drag of the country due to what they attribute to his executive.

For some months now, they have been asking the opposition every day for the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government, without any evidence that he knew anything, for every possible and improbable reason. They complain that New Democracy is “dragging” the country because of publications directed by SYRIZA. Now, again, is New Democracy to blame for the country’s expulsion from the involvement of a Greek MEP in such a serious case?
