Tsavousoglou: “The issue of the Aegean islands is a matter of our national policy”

Outrageous, incendiary dialogues for an invasion of the Greek islands were noted on the Turkish CNN Turk network as reported by SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis, with… the shocking argument that the Turkish invasion is necessary because the islands are… under Ankara’s nose(!)

The incendiary dialogues on CNN Turk

  • “These islands were ceded to Greece on the condition that they be demilitarized,” military analyst Abdullah Agar told CNN Turk.
  • “So what does the discussion of island sovereignty mean? In other words, we are telling them that they cannot have the sovereignty of these islands”, said the director of Hurriyet newspaper Ahmet Hakan.
  • “Yes, since they did not comply with the terms of the treaties and within the framework of the law, I am starting this discussion,” noted political analyst Hakan Bayrakci.
  • “When the time comes, Turkey will close the open account for the islands. When Turkey will be ready” said the journalist Turgai Guler
  • “So what are you saying that Turkey will invade the islands?” Hakan asked.
  • “Of course we will invade the islands. Is it possible that there are islands right under our noses?’ Guler replied

“The issue of the Aegean islands is a matter of our national policy”

The incendiary rhetoric of the Turkish media emanates from Ankara, as can be seen from the new statements of Mevlut Cavusoglu in the national delegation.

“The issue of the Aegean islands is a matter of our national policy. Do not make statements and criticism that will satisfy Greecehe even stated.

“The Turkish National Security Council announced a week ago that the islands must be demilitarized immediately, there is a specific goal, that is, demilitarization or an invasion ‘overnight,’ and Turkish analysts told CNN Turk the same thing. Journalists in the studio were also shocked,” commented Manolis Kostidis.

“In response to Greece’s actions on hydrocarbon exploration south of Crete, it has taken steps that support the agreement to define maritime areas of responsibility. Again last week Greece, in a strange way, denounced to the UN the hydrocarbon agreement that we signed with Libya last October. And we with the permanent representatives gave mtogether with Libya our common response” said the Turkish Foreign Minister.
