Koutsoubas: “Only the people themselves, with their struggle, can impose the end of anti-popular budgets”

by

The leader of the KKE unleashed a scathing accusation against the government and the opposition during his speech on the state budget in the Parliament

“No matter how many cosmetic adjectives you put in front of the budget, none of them negate the reality, which they understand because the workers in this place live it in their skin: That this budget is a deeply antipopular, a class Budget, as they were, whoever proposed them” emphasized the governor. of the KE of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, at speaking of in the Parliament on it budget.

“The point is, it will be one of the last anti-popular budgets and this cannot be guaranteed by any bourgeois political force. The Greek people themselves can put it into practice with their struggle, if they decide. That’s why we give all our strength” he added.

He pointed out that despite the fact that this Budget is pre-election, it proves once again that the boundaries between the government and the opposition in relation to the central policies that determine the lives of the people, especially in the field of the economy, are extremely indistinct and confusing. As, he then stated, “this is also the reason why the political confrontation has a lot of boha and stench that emerges from all the cases of the last days”.

Referring to wiretappingnoted, among other things, that all the other parties over the years either strengthened or tolerated “the eavesdropping state, the eavesdropping state”, while he added on the occasion of the case of E. Kaili, that “the EU itself functions as a nursery scandals with the action of institutionalized business lobbies, while in the European Parliament, Directives and other related texts are often written directly or at the behest of a representative of such lobbies and then signed and tabled as amendments by MEPs”.

He said that the same state “which legally breaks into the people’s houses to hammer them, which reinforces repression and authoritarianism against the people’s freedoms, is the same which kills a 16-year-old for 20 euros of petrol”.

“No cover-up, no tolerance for state violence and repression. No tolerance for the incidents of police violence and arbitrariness that multiply in the territory of politics, which on the one hand reinforces the repression against the people and on the other repeatedly covers up cases and criminals” he underlined, adding: “We are also talking about repeal all reactionary laws, but also the various special repression groups such as DIAS, MAT, DRASI, EKAM, OPKE, ODOS, University Police, etc.”

“All of them are aimed at the struggling people and the youth, and we have no problem recognizing that the KKE’s vote on the 600 euro allowance, only for the uniformed staff of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, was inappropriate – and even at the moment when it was done – with the clear position that the KKE has and mainly fights for, which I mentioned today and was also formulated by our member of parliament during the discussion of the controversial amendment”.

Speaking about the budget, D. Koutsoubas recalled that when the crisis broke out in 2010, the KKE had said that “the impasses of the capitalist system have become so great that no model or form of capitalist, urban management can provide a solution and exit”.

He noted that the Greek people tried both “restrictive” and “expansionary” policies and “it turned out that neither one nor the other can deal with the problems of the workers”. As he mentioned, the restrictive fiscal policyor the expansionist policy succeeded, but neither the memorandum laws, countermeasures and taxes were abolished, nor the State Budget expenditures concerning critical popular needs increased, while the “shame that 95% of the revenues come from the people’s taxes and only 5% of the capital, remains in all conditions and with all governments”.

“So, regardless of intentions, as long as one drinks water in the name of capitalist development, as long as one drinks water in the EU’s commitments and promotes the plans of the bourgeoisie, as every such government does, the result for the people will always be negative and destructive” he said characteristically.

Speaking of warnings of an even deeper and synchronized capitalist crisis to come, mounting pressures for a return to austerity and the re-emerging threat of a fiscal derailment, he noted that “after the next election, the new narrative on which to base the cut of government spending, even today’s meager government social policy subsidies”.

“The forecasts for its course domestic economysuch as those included in the Budget, for the course of the Greek economy for 2023, are extremely uncertain” he said adding that the “bride” will again be paid by the workers, employees, subsistence farmers and small professionals”.

“Overall, the course of the last year proves, once again, what the KKE has been shouting all these years: that development for capital does not mean development for the people. It only means a worsening of the situation, poverty, unhappiness,” he said characteristically and citing a series of examples of the drastic deterioration of the workers’ lives to which “the billions of euros of investment that increase the profitability of big capital” have led, he emphasized: “Your development has been, it is, and will always be, classless and relentless. The Budget of the ND government itself is deep class, as well as the character of the development”.

He said that the budget foresees new increases in the total this year as well indirect taxes, tax exemptions for large capital, cuts in “welfare state” spending to achieve fiscal surpluses and stability of the banking system with state support, i.e. extortion of taxpayers, based on inflated costs for the working class family, at deposit rates barely above 0% , when inflation exceeds 10%, but also a drastic increase in auctions at the expense of ordinary families, and to move the capitalist market.

“As for the so-called ‘pins’ in the meeting of Mr. Staikouras with the bankers, where do you say this? Mr. Staikouras, you have it all said and done. All your misery is that the popular households continue to pay their loans, from what they don’t have”, he said characteristically.

Referring to SYRIZA, he said that he “was the ‘champion’ of the launch of the VAT. He was the one who brought the ‘crows’. He is the one who is also overstating the infamous ‘green energy’ which is a key tool of energy liberation, a major factor in energy poverty and precision.” He noted that ND, SYRIZA and PASOK do not disagree on the new memorandum, the Recovery Fund, nor on the strategy of the green transition, nor on the NATO commitments. He also pointed out that SYRIZA has voted for a very large part of the ND government’s bills and added that the fact that SYRIZA “targets only Mr. Mitsotakis, often leaving out the rest of the ministers” to add: “How much more clearly now, tell us how you could find yourself in a government with the ND, but without Mitsotakis?”.

He characterized, among other things, “misleading and misleading” the criticism of various forces, such as MERA 25 and emphasized that “the problem of the Greek people is not that the country has turned into a debt-servitude”. The announcement of the debt as the core of the problem, as the real cause of the sufferings that fall on the backs of the Greek people, as the generative cause of the crisis, is only convenient for the system, pointed out the CG. of the KKE. “It is convenient for the ruling class to hide the huge profits of the tourism capital, the banks, the energy groups, the shipowners, which come from the bleeding of the workers. It is convenient to attribute the manifestation of the capitalist crisis to debt”.

D. Koutsoumbas said that the KKE’s criticism of the government and the Budget “does not concern the individual, but the main, i.e. all those causes that shape the political problem of the country itself. That is, the path of development in favor of capital and the commitments of the EU.”

“And precisely because, the KKE has positions and opposition program with the central, basic issues, which is why it is the best guarantee in the struggle and for the individual ones”, he noted. He emphasized that the protection of the people’s income, the protection of the people’s housing from auctions, at the same time as the assertion of the universal prohibition of public housing auctions and a ceiling on the management companies, to sell the mortgaged properties to their owners, at the price they bought it, the the goal of cheap energy today, requires a confrontation with the very existing profligacy of capitalist profitability, requires a struggle for substantial increases in wages and pensions.

“In front of you match for all this, with consistency, continuity and dynamism, without ‘yes but’, the KKE enters. That is why he calls on the people not to expect solutions from various government ‘saviors’ and ‘protectors’. The slogan ‘only the people can save the people’, which we have been repeating constantly lately, is extremely timely and, where it has been tested, the workers and the people have had important victories, important conquests. In this slogan, the KKE is the party that gives content, vitality, perspective. It goes without saying that for all these reasons, and others developed these days by all KKE MPs, we say ‘No’ to your anti-popular Budget” concluded D. Koutsoubas in his speech.
